Skiing
The 11,000 feet high Sierra Nevada mountains provide skiing from early
Dec to the end of April- and sometimes later- at the resort of Pradollano
(Sol y Nieve). It is about an hour and 20 mins drive from Almunecar.
If you’re feeling energetic you really can windsurf (or maybe just go to the beach)
in the morning and ski in the afternoon! Pradollano is at 7,000 feet with a mid
station at 9,000 feet. The top lift goes up to nearly 11,000 feet with great
views of Granada, the Mediterannean and even North Africa on a clear day.
There are about 25 lifts with around 70 runs. The skiing is good enough to
have hosted the 1996 World Championships. It’s also a regular venue on the
Snowboard World Cup circuit.
